Review for Roots Cafe, West Chester Roots Cafe isn't just a restaurant---it's a vibe, a tradition, and frankly, one of the best reasons to get out of bed in West Chester. My go-to breakfast? The pork belly Eggs Benedict. It's a masterpiece. Perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise that's rich but never heavy, and then there's the pork belly---crispy, tender, salty, and straight-up life-changing. Add the homemade scrapple and sweet potato fries to any order, and suddenly, you've achieved peak happiness at any hour of the day. And then there's the hot chicken sandwich. Listen, I know there are like five different places on Gay Street trying their hand at hot chicken, but let's save everyone some trouble: the best hot chicken sandwich in Pennsylvania comes from Roots Cafe. Picture this: perfectly fried, juicy chicken with a fiery, flavorful heat that doesn't overwhelm but leaves you craving more. Topped with crisp pickles, creamy slaw, and nestled in a soft bun that somehow holds it all together like it's doing you a favor. Pair it with a good pour of bourbon, and it's not just a meal---it's a moment. The staff and owners? Top-notch. They're the kind of people who greet you with a smile, remember your name, and genuinely make you feel like family. The recent renovations have turned this place into a cozy haven--- the contrasting brick and floral patterns, warm lighting, and an atmosphere that says, "Stay as long as you want." Roots Cafe is the kind of spot where you can settle in with good friends, lose track of time, and enjoy incredible food all day long. Roots Cafe isn't just another stop on Gay Street---it's the destination. Don't sleep on the pork belly Eggs Benedict, the sweet potato fries, or especially the hot chicken sandwich. They're the kind of eats that make you fall in love with food all over again.

These french toast bites are AMAZING! My friends and I ordered them as an appetizer and it was our favorite thing we had at brunch.

Great atmosphere! Food is amazing! My breakfast sandwhich was delicious!
Pork Belly Benedict
Service was amazing and the food and drinks were delicious! Ryan was a wonderful server and had great suggestions and definitely knew her stuff!
Sausage Hash
Not only the hash but every item I've tried on the menu is absolutely incredibly delicious! So fresh, you can tell they use fresh herbs and spices. Their menu is unique and this is a favorite spot to bring out of town friends! Love it!

The sausage hash is the best combination of ingredients ever!!! I can never eat the whole meal and the leftovers are my fave!!

Delicious mushroom hash. The root vegetable hash on the fall menu was also delightful.
Spicy Cucumbers
This hash put all the rest to shame! The flavors are out of this world! I will also be back for the spicy cucumbers and apple cinnamon French toast. I was drooling!

Not only the hash, but everything I've ever had on their menu is absolutely amazingly delicious! They use all the freshest ingredients and herbs. This is the place that I take my out-of-town guests!
Bacon Frittata
Roots is our go to place after any medical procedure! Sounds funny but we know if we have been fasting for whatever reason, we can go to Roots after and get a good, healthy meal! We know our bellies will be satisfied.
